A BIG THANK YOU to all the people that helped me out yesterday evening.  I had a major wreck , I  think it was on carpet, but I'm not sure. I remember starting Carpet and the next thing I remember was 2 guys being at my truck. I  now have a broken wrist, double vision, a little blood on my brain, stitches in my face, and a  few other minor things.  A special thanks to  Sandman and his staff for taking care of me here in the hospital.
BTW I'm glad now that I spent the money on a Troy Lee Design A-1 Helmet it will need to be replaced today but it my have very well saved my life yesterday.

I'm just now seeing this thread. I saw your most recent update and am glad you're finally feeling better. Have you been seeing Dr. W with my practice (Carolina Neurosurgery and Spine)? If not, it might be worth your while. He manages our sports concussion patients. I agree with the nice helmet investment. We see lots of avoidable head trauma, some devastating.

Thanks Sand,
I’ve been to CN&S several times. They released me for work back in the winter. My biggest problem from my crash was the Rt. Eye,  nerve damage / double vision.
Any Suggestions on the safest helmet for mountain biking? I’m not too concerned with comfort or price but I am concerned that I might shake up my marbles again.

The Giro helmets with MIPS technology get great reviews. I have one and fortunately haven't wrecked with it on. It's got an increased safety profile primarily due to the fact that the MIPS technology helps reduce rotational brain injuries in addition to impact injuries.

Any of the current helmets as long as they fit correctly and don't move on your head.

My brother may be able to help with this. He's worked with people with head injuries before. Definitely worth a consult, at least.

This helmet has gotten a lot of good press and the technology makes sense.  Like taking MIPS to another level.

Good to hear you are back on the bike Chuck.  I think I bought your old niner scandium frame a couple of months before your crash.  It has been a great bike and hope to see you at WWC soon

Hey Chuck, glad to hear that you've conquered that demon. I got a chance to ride with you a couple of months ago and I was pretty impressed, especially after all that you'd been through. Keep rolling and stay safe.
