USNWC trees down and Trail Center was closed

** Trail Center was closed **

Large trees have fallen across the trail on Toilet Bowl in such a way I could not even climb over the carnage.  Not since Hurricane Hugo have I seen this kind of tree destruction in Charlotte.  Forget your chainsaws, call Paul Bunyan.  On a silver lining side of things, I got to find out what it's like to ride most of Toilet in the opposite direction.  I've circled where I believe the approximate location is.

A tree has fallen across the trail on Weigh Station.  I was able to jump it on the left side so it's not terribly big or high off the ground.  I've circled where I believe the approximate location is.

Carpet has two different sets of headhunting trees down across the trail.  Hobbit-sized riders will find these additions fun to ride under.  I've circled where I believe these locations are.

I probably should not even bother with this one but I'm on a roll.  Goat Hill has a small tree down on the back side decent heading toward the fire road.  I probably could have stopped and cleared but jumped it instead.

Thanks guys.  I was aware of most (but not all) of these and am gearing up to clear them this morning.
The maps are quite helpful.

Good one Rich!

But really..........we got 7 inches of rain all at once on Monday the 26th.  We are just now at a point where I think we've identified and repaired most of the damage.  There were some major erosion issues, lots of downed trees, and we even had a small bridge wash away.  It was one heck of a storm.  That's also why the trails were closed a bit longer than normal last week, as we did not want to open them until we had repaired some key areas.

I'm pretty bummed about the current state of that adjacent property.  The new owners are starting a dirt recycling business apparently.

Good job on the clean up, Lee.  Did you happen to take any before/after pictures of Toilet Bowl?  I took after pictures but they are blurry.

I too was stopped abruptly riding Toilet Bowl on Sunday. As oppose to some other trails (i.e. East Main) where a fallen tree trunk could be crossed, this could not. No where to meander thru. I was able to ride the opposite direction, but slowly due to the potential of colliding with another rider going the correct way.

There are a couple of big ones down on East Main I saw last night.  I moved some smaller stuff off the trail.  One of the big trees is going to take a pretty good sized chain saw.

There is one down on the CTT... after you re-enter the woods after the power line opening.... just before the left hand turn at the bottom of the little downhill through the pine trees...  Right where it starts to smell like poop... there is a tree 45degree across the trail.  Folks are making a go around so you should hit it ASAP.
