It burned down last Friday 10/28.  I heard it was a cigarette that was dropped between the floor boards and caught the pine needles below on fire.

I can believe that! Smokers are not conscience of what their actions have to do with anything. They just throw the butts anywhere and everywhere and don't seem to care. I live at Snowshoe now and it's supposed to be a resort area, but the smokers litter the roads and parking lots and don't care at all. They are the worst litterbugs there are!!!! It makes me sick!!

One time I was sitting at a picnic table, sipping on a couple of cold ones. It was fairly Windy, and one of my cans blew off the table without me knowing. A guy came walking up to me flicked his cigarette butt . And asked if I was gonna pick the can up. I acknowledged it and picked it up. I then asked if he was going to do the same with his cigarette butt. He told me the butt would eventually break apart and turn into dirt(something like that, can't remember the terminology) and the can wouldn't do that

What's the WWP?

Smoking isn't even allowed at the WWC, what a bummer, all the work went into that just for some a#&hat to wreck it.

"He told me the butt would eventually break apart and turn into dirt"...that shows how ignorant he is as cigarette butts are made of fiberglass which is not biodegradable.  I smoked for 20 years and quit in '96 when I started riding...best decision I ever made!

Good for you David!! I pick up a lot of cigarette butts while taking my trash to the dumpster a mile from my house and when I walk up to the mail box to get my mail. Even if the paper is off the butts, the filter part is still there. I've always thought of smoking as being one of the worst habits you can do to harm yourself. Like I stated before- smokers are litter bugs- plain and simple!!

You should put the cigarette butts in the smokers mailboxes.  I'm sure they'll want them back since they obviously accidentally lost them on the ground. Shocked

I would do that if I knew who they are. We don't have mail boxes up here, just PO boxes at the post office. I'm thinking about hiding in the woods and run out and kick them in the butt when I see them throw their cigarette butts on the ground. When I lived in Cornelius, people that didn't clean up after their dogs, I would get the shovel and take their crap and put it on their steps. You can't blame the dog, but you can blame their owners.

I smoked for 13 years as well and stopped about the same time you did, but "95% of cigarette filters are made of cellulose acetate (a plastic), and the balance are made from papers and rayon" not fiberglass.

I stand corrected...I guess I'm the ignorant one!  Thanks for the enlightenment!

I quit 28 years ago. I'm surprised at how many people flick their butts out the car window. I think more downhill skiers and mountain bikers smoke. I know when I used to alpine ski, I would have a smoke while riding the ski lift

I wish the ski resorts would stop the smoking on the lifts and the slopes. I hate to be riding the lift and have to smell their stinking smoke polluting my good air!!

I agree, but think I would have a reverse opinion on the ski lifts of Colorado😉😜🎿
