Rumble in the Concrete Jungle 2017, get stoked

Get stoked, get yer bikes shined up, and get ready to do a ninja flip during the slopestyle runs...

Who is riding, and who is going to beat Will Murray and Mike King this year...  Those guys can RAMFB for sure.  I'll be stylin' and profilin' but I don't know if that will get me on the brodium in the race.  Does a head tweak count as a trick in the slopestyle?  If so then bring on the banks and the booters!

I am looking forward to this event.  Looks like the builders have already been busy.

Our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt.

Lee,

I know you're pretty busy, but if you have a moment can you chime in on the new categories (divisions) for the race this year?

I just want to race the fastest division, regardless of bike.  In years past the winners have always been on trailish bikes from my recollection.  Whats the cut off between xc and long travel?  Also curious why the move to make the categories instead of "run what ya brung" beginner/expert categories.

So I kind of answered my own question about the categories by looking at event website here (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

Here is what the Event Document said about it:

What divisions are available for the Downhill Race, and how are they defined?

Participants will compete in the division corresponding to which type of bike they choose to ride.  Divisions are XC, Long Travel, and Dirt Jump/BMX.

XC:  Cross Country bikes, which are typically hardtails or shorter travel dual suspensions whose primary purpose is to keep the wheels on the ground and knock out fast mileage on the trail.

Long Travel:  Gravity bikes of all sorts, including those labeled as freeride, trail, enduro, downhill, etc. These bikes are meant to be pointed down a mountain and have the travel and geometry to take big hits.  Yes, your freeride hardtail with the huge fork on it falls into this division.

Dirt Jump/BMX:  Smaller, trick-oriented bikes whose only real purpose is to hit jumps and get rad.

Youth: All Participants 17 and under

Whats the plan if that happens?

Check the USNWC's event page on their website for updates.  As of now they said they will make the call at 12pm tomorrow on postponing until Sunday.
