Cool Cycling Kit?
01/30/17 at 6:28pm
Print Post
I usually dress pretty casual for rides but now that I'm doing some racing there's no denying that a cycling style "kit" is the right tool for the job. I have one kit currently but it is several years old and could probably use a replacement.

I don't particularly want to ride with massive branding for someone whose not paying me to do so. That being said, I wouldn't mind wearing the kit of a brewery or local business if it was nice looking. I'd also be open for a cool design like twin six though the fit of their jersey didn't seem to agree with me.

So to sum up, need a kit or just a jersey for racing, prefer it to look alright and be a "race" type fit.

Anyone have suggestions?

If you don't have a team, THTB FTW. I really like the anniversary jersey.  Go to your LBS for a set of bibs. Brand recommendation will vary from person to person, just like tires, shoes, and saddles...

Most sporting kits are part of that 'team'. The word team can have a wide range of meaning but for 99 percent of us, it doesn't equate to sponsorship.

Haha, I need to get on one of these teams. I have noticed a ton of brewery cycling kits around town and at the races and some look very sharp. I really like the birdsong, unkown, and legion kits.

Seems like a lot of breweries out west sell jerseys. Not so much around here.

I googled Unknown:

On the bottom of the page is a link for a kit or jersey. Tried to link it here but it wasn't showing up correctly.

Not sure about legion or anyone else. I'd just ask someone wearing a kit in question and ask them about it if you can't get an answer here.

If you don't care if you look like your favorite pro racer go on Amazon and just search "cycling jersey".  Find your price range, color, and go with it.  There is no doubt in my mind that you have to spend the money on your cycling shorts, but I have gotten MANY years out of china made cycling jerseys with zero issues.

You can buy just the Unknown socks for $12 to cover your man bits and then wear a Chili Peppers t shirt.  That would be edgy, cheap, and allow you to move freely on the bike.

Another solid option there, might require body shaving for maximum effect

I'm currently a grad student at UNCC and though the cycling club is pretty disorganized right now, I might design a kit for them. I will probably make a seperate thread here to gauge interest.

Yup and you'd never be mistaken for a roadie even if you shaved your legs. Grin
