That is a bad crash!! Check out the skier going off the cliff on the same web cite. He's lucky to be alive!

Holy cow!  I can't imagine what went through that guys head as he was rolling on the wall.  I'm sure initially there was a part of him thinking  "I need to hold on to my bike" but then at some point the realization must have hit him "f- the bike, grab the wall!!!"   

This is why I don't race.*   







*and partially because I'm totally out of shape, but that's neither here nor there.

He was lucky, or good, that he was able to unclip (with his feet up and his back on the bridge rail) I guess the crash impact may have been enough to free his feet. But if attached, the rotational weight of the bike swinging over the bridge rail would almost certainly pulled him loose. 

That's why I ride with flats...you just never know when something like that will happen. Wink
