I'm trying to convert my TransAm to ss but cant remove cranks without the Shimano tool.

Anyone know of a LBS that would sell the hollowtech tool? Or any tricks to removing the preload cap without stripping it?

I think any decent shop you go into will have one to buy, or amazon, or just go in and have them take it off.

I'm in Fort Mill if you need to borrow.

That is some American Ingenuity  Grin I'll hit up a few shops before I go that route. I already broke a 2mm Harbour Freight Alan key...and yes, I realize the irony in that statement lol

If you haven't already, loosen the crank arm bolts first. I always find that once I do that I can almost loosen the ring by hand.

I wasn't able to get it free'd up by hand & ended up getting the tool. It came off pretty easily with that.

The bike is riding great. Thanks for the help!
