I think this would be cool and interesting.

But I can also see the confusion.

Particularly, I wonder if everybody would get the message. The current direction is ingrained in so many riders minds that I'm not sure they would reverse directions if it was posted.

Before it became legit uncool to ride Sherman at Night (don't judge.....lots of riders including me thought it was not a bogus thing to do) I would regularly ride Sherman at night....forward and backwards.  I'm 100% certain RC backwards would bring zero benefit to the trail....or to the rider (unless you hate flow and only want to climb).  Might work for the rest of the trail....but too hard to implement.

WWC Backwards at Night is cool (and not a horse's arse thing to do).

would it be possible to ride reverse until a certain point where you could climb out and then hit RC the way it was intended?  It seems that the end of Sherman would be a fun start to a trail and I would never reverse RC as it is way too fun as is.  Just a thought....

So I just rode LNSP in the new direction and was impressed with what a difference it makes. Many years ago, my pals and I would go to Beech Spring at times when there were few riders and we'd ride it in the opposite direction.

So my question is if or how would one would go about purposing a bidirectional change at Sherman's Branch? My thinking is it would require the same as at LNSP in terms of signage amendments and notices posted.

Of course some would ask why, what benefit? That's obvious enough in that the same trail in reverse direction is actually a totally new experience. I would imagine the RC in reverse would be on par with RR's climbs (start of Gorge and No Name) in terms of steepness and difficulty.

I enjoy Sherman a lot - although Steve's is my main ride. Just a thought as it would breathe some variety into the SB experience.

Thoughts? Comments?

This is actually the original direction the trail was designed to be ridden.  That's why it flows in the direction as well as it does. Smiley
