Intro - Hello from Lake Wylie, SC

Hi All,

This is my first post and I just wanted to make an introduction.

My name is Ian and I moved to the US (from Canada obviously  Smiley ) about 5 years ago for work.  I bought a new Diamondback Recoil 29er soon after I got here in hopes of getting back on the trails, but life got in the way and so it has been collecting dust in my garage for most of its life.

A few months ago I decided to dust it off and make some upgrades and I realized how "entry level" the components were, even on a decent ($800-$1000) MTB.

I started shopping around for upgrades and found some reasonably priced NOS (New-Old-Stock) frames that were far superior to my DB frame (original $5K-8K bikes) and so a hobby (obsession  Wink ) started with finding the best deals on higher end parts and building these frames back to how they were originally sold (or better).  I have now built up an inventory of show-pieces/trophies (about 10), and so I've decided to try to sell a few of them before I start any more projects.  All of my bikes are XC/trail bikes and I have anything from Aluminum Hard tails to all Carbon fiber full-suspension bikes with complete XTR Di2 setups.  All of my parts are higher end (enthusiast to expert/race level) and I don't think you'll find a single component under XT on any of my builds.

I have been building/modifying cars for the last 20+ years (475hp Subaru STI, Supercharged Lotus Elise, Mercedes E63, Turbo S2000, etc.) but bikes have appealed to me because it is a lot cheaper to buy the best parts available and I can build the "Ferrari's of bikes" whereas I can't afford a real Ferrari.  I also get to work with new clean parts and only needed a few hundred dollars in tools (rather than the thousands that I have invested in automotive tools).

Anyway, I am going to list some of my bikes in the marketplace for as reasonably as I can.  All (99%) of my parts are brand new but I will specify if they have had any light use or came from a shop demo.  All of my parts have come from the US, Canada, or the UK, so I can guarantee that everything is authentic.

I have built all of the frames as I liked, but I am willing to modify or reconfigure any of the bikes to a buyers preference.  I have also accumulated a lot of spares so these will all be available as upgrades/downgrades on any of the bikes assuming compatibility.

I have searched for the best deals on parts and so I will try to list as low as I can to pass-along some savings, but if you want to make a reasonable offer, I will still consider.  I will work with you on different component configurations if an offer is too low for me to sell, but hopefully we can come to a mutual arrangement if any of the bikes interest you.

Thanks and happy/safe riding!  Hope to make it out and meet some of you in the not too distant future.

While I didn't modify the expensive cars you did, I was once a gear head in 2007,(swapped and turbo civics, modified WRX's) I found bikes and haven't looked back since!

Lol..... I too started with turbo civics, supercharged integra's, and a couple of 240SX Silvia conversions..... I just stuck  with the obsession for longer I guess Smiley.

Having a lot of fun building bikes though so I guess it doesn't really matter as long as I'm modifying something Smiley.

Good to meet other gear-heads as I am definitely one of them!

Cheers,

Ian

Welcome! I'm in Rock Hill so not too far from you.

Glad to see another gear head in the mix. Maybe you can give me a hand with my e92 335i build when I finally pull the trigger and go single turbo and ditch the tiny twins.

For sure.  I do have a full set of 2-piece floating E92 M3 rotors for sale..... they are brand new in box if you decide to go to M3 brakes.

I've got a hoist and all of the tools you could ever need..... time is my only obstacle Sad

Cheers,

Ian

I may end up doing that eventually, since the wheels I have on it now would fit them. But that'll be a while off.

Ahhh time, it's a real mother isn't it?
