Ride it so much that the frame breaks, and the drivetrain and all the bearings are worn out.  Then upgrade the whole thing.

You're fitness will be so much better by the time you get the new bike, you'll definitely be faster on it.

This bike is stout! Plus no bearings, only bushings and I have a pile of spares. I do need to improve my fitness though.

I ordered a new 11-42 cassette and am still shopping for new tires.

Hmmm...maybe you need to ride harder if you can't break it.  I set a lap time goal at Sherman Branch before I would allow myself to buy a new bike.  Then the frame broke on my old bike, which capped the deal.  Also made approval from the finance department easier.

Solid option.  This is what I did as a goal for upgrading my wheels.

I know this tactic... I will be trying very hard to taco my wheels this summer, hucks to flat, off camber jump landings, smashing through rock gardens with reckless abandon... Need to be able to justify a new wheelset to the wifey...

I'm 215 and bomb this thing through Pisgah Rock gardens. It gets ridden hard enough just not often enough. Plus, I want to keep it. It's a blast to ride and is the bike that started the short travel/slack geo trend that is popular today. I think I have a plan now anyway.
