Jumping ahead a bit, I'm going to say that anyone who picks LKN over RRT needs to learn how to ride a MTB without training wheels  Smiley

I like how it's gonna end up being a tech vs flow championship game!

Just realized the end of this tournament coincides with the end of March Madness. Now thats some smart planing, really glad this all got set up.

Well, hopefully Sherman "plays" strong in the second to last round

No offense to Steve and/or RRT but BYT is way more technical than RRT or any other trail, for that matter. Wink

No offense taken. I don't think RRT is very technical for the most part.

I didn't think so, Steve.  You don't seem to easily offend. Wink I gotta get out and check out your new additions to the trail!  Can we move it a little closer to Mooresville?  Cheesy

In general, I would agree.

However I can clean everything at backyard pretty consistently, with the exception of an occasional dab on the tech section that was (is?) temporarily shut down due to the greenway construction. But that is mostly just an attempt to avoid banging my frame or RD on a boulder.

There are a couple techy switchbacks and climbs at RRT that get the best of me almost every time. One on the "River Bluff Climb" stands out in my mind. Don't think I have ever made it through that section cleanly. Those climbs are tough, especially on a slack bike.

Not a particularity good way to get to this side of Concord from Mooresville. Please come check it out when you get the time haven't ran into you down this side in quite a while. The new valley of bridges is kind of interesting.

I dunno. From what I've been hearing, it sounds like the green loop at Fisher might be over my head. Need to get out that way and see what all the fuss is about. It's been a while. Smiley

3 people have been killed this week alone.  Roll Eyes

It was the addition of the shark tank skinny that really put it over the top

HWY 3 to HWT 73 to HWY 601 seems to be the best route. Smiley

With as many times as the deer in Enchanted Forest get knocked over you'd think they'd killed a few more riders!! Shocked   But they ain't moving anymore.....(insert evil laugh)

I would say going down to 485 over to Rocky River road would be better ( baring any traffic on 77 of course)

So glad someone else has trouble there! The climb is a snap, but those downward sloping roots right at the top after the rocks have killed your momentum while trying to get between the tree and the sapling stop me every single time. That's by far the most technical thing at RRT. And it's about 2 feet of trail! But that loop is worthwhile enough to put my foot down to push a couple feet.

But overall I don't think RRT gets credit for being the momentum trail that it is. In that section before the Gorge Climb it has pretty good flow if you maintain momentum. The harder you ride it the easier it is. Other than the named climbs it's a fast rolling trail. Super fast in several spots. I love the gully before Ski Run...you come out of that gully like a rocket and then get a little air on the roller. Then grab a handful of brakes before 'Dickie's Rock' and the switchbacks.   Smiley

Watcher if you vote BYT I will vote RRT. So we cancel out. I really need to come on over and ride RRT asap! I am voting Lake Norman and the only reason is that it is longer and I hate to ride the same thing twice!
