WWC Early Trail Closure Last Night - WTH?

Not sure I get the closing of the trail system at the WWC around 6:15 last night when it had not rained for the prior hour/ there was no measurable rain from the earlier drizzle which I drove thru to get to the WWC.

Did a full lap of Green, during which time it was not raining and trail conditions were perfect, to be met by the trail closed board on the way out.

It did not start raining until after 7PM, and even then it was a light mist, not a heavy downpour until closer to 7:30.

What gives!?   Now you're closing trails at the threat of rain?!   Angry  Or, perhaps there was a downpour on the far side of the property.   Grin

A week ago the WWC hosted a race in far worse conditions.

Pure speculation only here on what the situation was like then but I know they will close down due to lightning storms or threat of lightning as it's a potential threat/hazard to visitors.  Even if it rains or not.  IMHO, that would be the biggest reason they shut down.  Lightning doesn't even have to be striking on premise/nearby... as long as there is a visible/audible threat... that has happened to me once and the rain never even made it to the WWC.  Probably due to the logistics of getting that many people off the trails/water.

Plausable, however if lightning was a threat I would think they would have evacuated the band that was playing on a stage surrounded by electrical equipment out in the open as well......

I went to the bike shack and complained about it.  Their answer was... it's going to rain tonight.. probably after we are gone and we won't be around to put up the efing trail closed signs so they surreptitiously closed the trails.
BLOWS MY MIND AFTER THY KEEP THE TRAILS OPEN FOR TUCKFEST to pull BS like that.

I did get my ride in and promptly pulled a beer from my cooler and went home instead of sticking around for the music.

My question would be is do they intend to run the 24 hour marathon tonight? And if they are, do they intend to open the trails for the public?

Its been my experience that they close their trails more often than any other place and keep them closed for longer periods. Besides the threat of rain and thunderstorms they also have lots of spots on their trails that have poor drainage and riding just destroys the trails. They could be better on trail maintenance.
