Hello,

I am looking for recommendations on flat pedals, manufacturer? model?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Since this thread I have been riding Raceface Atlas.  They are great but like most good flats if you screw up you will pay the price (bleeding will occur)

Shoes are just as important as the pedals with flats.
like the 5 Ten Freerider
or Adidas Slack Cruser

to OP... not sure of experience level.  most new bikes today have a very low bottom bracket height which can result in pedal strikes.  to help w/ that a thinner pedal will do.  lots of folks care about weight.  imo on the extreme end... less weight usually has other drawbacks so let you wallet be your guide.  not sure what the kona wawa is made of... i suspect aluminum but they are durable and light enough for me.

Raceface makes a nylon pedal that does interest me should I need to replace a set.

I've got a set of RaceFace Chesters which I love. Good large platform and 8 pins on each side for grip (though they're shin killers). I ride clipless most of the time, but when I want flats they're great.

I decided to try these pedals on my mountain bike (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) I liked them so much. It felt like I had an extra gear. So I figured, what the heck, I'll try them on my road/gravel bike. I really like the size of the platform. Makes for a very comfortable ride on the road. And you can try them for 30 days and get a refund if you don't like them. When I was riding out at Pisgah a couple weeks ago, I met two other riders using them. So they may be catching on

I rock DMR Vaults on one bike and a more budget set of VP Vice on another. The DMRs are really nice, large platform, lots of pins and can take a beating. The VPs are pretty similar but dont look as good as the DMRs. Both are relatively thin i think 17mm, but unlike many other thin flats, these are much sturdier and built to last. Also easy to service.

DMR Vault, most grip you can get from a pedal and great if you have bigger feet. Mine are 5 years old and only had to open them up and grease once.

I am also still running the RF Atlas (about a year and a half now). Overall they have been great pedals. Will definitely destroy shins, but so will any flat pedal that is worth a damn. I had to rebuild them once after a full day in monsoon weather at Beech Mtn... but then I had to replace almost every bearing on my bike after that day.

If I had to try a different pair, here are a few I would consider.

I don't know about all those reasonable solutions, but these look really pimpin:

Has anyone tried them?

I have had these on my bike for 4 years.....wellgo b103.  I don't want to jinx their performance.

I am running RF Atlas and my wife has Nukeproof Neutrons. Both are great pedals although the spikes on the Nukeproof are a little more forgiving on the shins.

+1 on the Race Face Chesters...  I just picked a pair up last week at REI for $47 including tax (anniversary sale).  They had very favorable reviews on REI's website and the light weight nylon composite pedal will more than meet my needs.  I'm a SPD rider but like to have a back-up pair of flats if my wife rides or I have company in town and they're riding my back-up bike.

Thanks for all the feed back.

These are not for me personally, I have a friend in Germany who is looking to buy a set. He was looking at purchasing a set of NC-17 Sud Pin III S-Pro pedals and asked my opinion. I told him that I have no experience with flat pedals but I would see what I could find out.
