Cut him a break.

It's not like he went and wrote a message on the Whiteboard asking for the trail to be "un blocked".  I mean who does that...

You know why I am old. My daughter came home with a business plan talking about those damn fidget things and I had to google what they were. What ever happened to going outside to relieve your stress.

Quote:
yes, just like last summer, the hills are still overgrown, as of this past Saturday (and there's more of them)

just to clarify before I'm mistakenly misunderstood (I get enough of that at home),
I LOVE STEVE'S PLACE, and told him so Saturday.
My original quote was in jest about the significant number of overgrown hills/climbs (not face slappers) that hurt my body every time I go out there, which is as frequently as I can.

I just opened it up for tomorrow. Better take both wet bypasses as the river hit 15 1/2 feet and that puts a lot of those sections under a couple feet of water and leaves a terrible layer of goo/slime till it drys. However the River View option only has a couple very short sections that go under at that height should be ok. Also the little hard spot at the top of River Bluff climb has been altered. Trail has taken a beating from the rain this spring. I've been spraying quite a bit but haven't gotten to it all.

The post that started this thread did irritate me when I first read it. Mostly cause it seemed like the rider hit it at a bad time last year and after a year was thinking about giving it another try. Ya'll made up for it by defending RRT. There are a ton of miles of trails in the area. That's quite a bit for everyone to maintain. Hats off to all that keep them ridable.

Very well put, Steve. Smiley  Hats off to ALL the trail coordinators and volunteers who would rather be riding but sacrifice their free time to make our trail system as great as it is!!

RRT is the Stone Cold of mtb trails.  Only seems right its Steve's trail.

And if you spin a fidget, you deserve a Stone Cold Stunner.

I Must have rode it at a bad time last year. As a volunteer trail build/maintainer I meant no disrespect. It takes a lot of effort to maintain these trail systems. The flaming is kinda shocking only because this is my first bad experience within the mountain bike community as a whole not just THTB. Most people are just stoked to be around people that love what they love. I guess I should have worded the question differently.

Anyway I figure I will give it a ride Thursday after work. Ill be in a silver Mazda Protégé 5 riding a red/grey GT, if your still that upset about it feel free to come spit on me, beat me up, punch holes in my tires etc. you will receive no resistance from me as it seems everyone on thinks I deserve this. I just want to ride, its what I love.

I have noticed over time here Joel that there are many people on this site that do not know how to take criticism.  There is quite a bit of strong defensiveness for the these trail systems and anything short of praise is met with harsh response and public shame.

Though I CERTAINLY understand that when the trails are the result of personal time/money/effort spent that one can be defensive about people voicing disapproval...  People should realize that both praise AND criticism create better trails for everyone.  I feel like that is missed sometimes here, but I too will wait for the forth coming assault for my comments.

As a whole I LOVE the Charlotte area for all the different types of trails we have to offer and wouldn't change 90% of what we have.  It's a little narrow minded though to think that there is no room for improvement.

I actually think that you are right to a point. Sometimes people are just complaining to be complaining so whatever but sometimes people have valid points and insight. You can often learn more from your critics than your friends who just tell you what you want to hear. When we fail to listen to the critics, we miss the whole story.

Keep in mind too that this is a (somewhat) open internet forum. You get all kinds of opinions here….everything you read here is an individual opinion. Not necessarily the opinion of the Board or any sort of official THTB opinion or stance on any particular issue. And same as in any other walk of life you tend to hear the most from the “extremists”. You don’t really hear from the moderates much…because they are not yelling as loudly. So it can appear that the extremist point of view is the “norm” or more prevalent viewpoint when in fact that is not the case.

Four More Years!!!!

By far the best president I know of... Although her twitter use could be more frequent.

And anything anyone says thats different from what I think or say is wrong. And that person is wrong, and also stupid. Its the law of the internet. Even Presidents arent above the law... I think?
