You can carry a lot of speed on that trail.  All it takes is clipping a tree....

They said "biker" on the news, wonder if someone was hiking on the trail and a rider was moving too fast to avoid hitting them?

Not sure why it matters if they were a commuter or huffy rider though, someone still died.....

I really didn't mean anything by it. It's just that if it's a huffy rider. They usually put themselves in danger like riding the wrong way, or having no lights. It's always a shame when someone loses their lives. But if it's a responsible rider from the bike community, I might know him or someone else does. With the cyclists or pedestrians that are killed by under the influence drivers lately, this girl will probably get probation. In Statesville/Iredell county , where I live. They gave a dude 3-6 for running a red light, hitting and killing a pedestrian, and being under the influence of many substances. They say the guy is young ,and has a young daughter. There's a chance he may be out in less then 3 because of time served. I think that while he is in jail, he will find more drug connections, because he was a a$$hole in the first place. You should see his Facebook page. Every photo has him out drinking with friends. Not even one photo of his daughter. Makes me feel real great about riding and walking the streets of Iredell county
