Those were quite a (welcomed) surprise yesterday on my ride. Makes an already fun exit of the Laurel trail that much more fun! Kudos to those who built them!

Keep your eyes open, we are going to be scheduling a work day at Lake Norman in the very near future.  We'd be glad to put a flat shovel in your hand and show you how we built them.

I don't think Berms count as a TTF  Huh  But there are options depending on you ride in between them...

So there is a pretty big gap jump going down the fast downhill section of Monbo (first 1/3 of it this direction) but its kind of off the trail, is that a feature or something someone has illegally done?

Hopefully at that work day the many mud holes on Laurel and Wildlife can be addressed. I'm planning on attending if I'm in town.

When we were building the Laurel Loop, there was opportunity for some TTF type stuff, but no one showed up that likes that kind of stuff. We built a few things, but was not what some of the riders wanted. The log ride has rotted away now and has not been rebuilt to my knowledge. On the Wildlife Loop, there a few tabletops and a double on the straighter downhill section in this years direction. On Monbo Loop after sign #16 is a small kicker that will get you air borne with a little speed. Will and I built a small rock jump on the Laurel Loop also before I retired and moved away. I sure miss those trails!

It's crazy how much effort goes into fixing just a few wet spots (if you do it right ).  It gets really daunting to try and tackle a whole loop in a work day, mainly because you have to walk 5 miles to get to everything.  It just takes soo much time...

Hopefully we can get a couple wet spots addressed on Saturday (Jason posted the thread link above) but it will take 3 or more workdays with a good turnout just to fix the mud spots on one 5 mile loop, and there are 30 miles out there...

That "gap jump" on Monbo is a great example of why we SHOULD build some TTF's on the diff trails.
That jump was built up by someone who obviously likes to send it a bit.  Problem is, you have to be wicked "on it" or you eat bark hard.  Jumps, drop offs, and the like are best when you have a run out.
Also real TTF's hold up to use and the elements. Too many times at SP I've hit something that someone else built up only to have the jump blow up/out. No fun at all.
Just rode Blankets down in GA. Very very similar to the SP but lots of TTF's. That stuff never gets old!

I can picture that log ride. I forgot it was even on the trail
