There is a bit of skepticism about this guy and his claims floating around. Apparently a gofundme was set up to replace his bike after this incident but this isn't his first rodeo.

Yeah, I saw the same things.  He has set up multiple suspicious go fund me pages before and the local riders are saying that with the high traffic on the trail that this being set up is highly unlikely...

I won't be contributing to his gofundme asking for $8,000 to pay for his 2009 non-sworks stumpjumper FSR...

I've also read that Strava recorded a bunch of activity on that segment of trail during the time this allegedly happened - and no one saw anything (barbed wire, people stringing it, or people riding into it). Hope they charge him with the Canadian equivalent of fraud and filing a false report if this turns out to be untrue.
