Cutting Carbon Seatposts

Any best practices when it comes to cutting a carbon seatpost to shave off some length?  I've heard opinions ranging from don't cut carbon to mark it with a piece of tape and take a hack saw to it the same you would to an any other type of seat post.

Best to use a saw guide. They have one of these at most shops.

Wrap it in painters tape and mark it prior to cutting and use a 32t blade, this will keep splintering to a minimum.

Here's a simpler approach using a plastic miter box and a little sandpaper.

I've read that you should use a fine tooth hacksaw blade.  Taping is a good idea to prevent splintering.  Also read you should wear a dust mask to keep the carbon fiber dust out of your lungs.
