I am pretty sure one of the guys that cut Fire mountain built most of LNSP.

One of the guys who built Fire Mountain was also Moto Mike

Sweet,

MTB Project said Trail Dynamics which is Ed Suttin (built out at Uwharrie) and Bob Karriker (built LNSP)

But if Terra Tek was there too you would know. Moto Mike does good work too (Rocky Knob and "the Airline")

In the end, even if the WWC put a Bike ramp to drop in off the Mega Zip line you would still only have about 1/8 the elevation you need.  It would be cool though

Coming from Michigan I am familiar with the process of urban mountain building. We called it Mt Brighton and it started life as the town dump!  Careful what you sign up for.

They should build this at the end of said drop-in...

... It would get about as much use as that new rock wall over the plunge pool.

A Lake Norman State Park type experience would be perfect.     It goes without saying they don’t have 700 feet elevation change our 1500 elevation, whatever it is.

This pic is great! I did a full on head butt to spd fail on the tree of this feature.  Went for it and suffered a nice bonk on the noggin.  Bummer if it's been neutered!

A terrible tragedy has befallen South Main.  What was once a beautiful mountain bike trail has been turned into a paved greenway.  A toll lane is scheduled to be added in 2018 to pay for future projects.

Far and away you were the best trail feature.  I remember the thrilling day I unraveled the mystery of your roots and I was never stuck again.  But now, no riders will experience that joy.  Instead the masses will ride over, oblivious to the challenge that you presented.  Missed will be the opportunities for riders to improve their skill.  Cries of anguish will be replaced by the gentle hum of e-bikes merrily making their way.  #brappppp

Didn't want to start a new thread, but it looks like parking passes for next year have increased by $10. Will now be $50 per website: (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

May be they can use the extra money for more maintenance/trails?

I hear the daily pass will be $6... hope the parking attendant has a lot of $1 bills!

The last thing we need is another lnsp. Mx mac you live in a fantasy land plenty of mountain flow to be found if you just drive or move 2 hours away. Charlotte is what it is flat. Flow trails are great at bike parks .... local trails gtfo impossible.

I definitely live in Fantasy Land, a.k.a the Ballantyne Bubble.   I drive all over the state and many parts of the east coast. I've ridden everything around here, plus to name a few, Warrier, Dupont, Fire Mountain, Paddy's Creek thanks to this site, Ridgeline, Dark Mountain, Beech Mountain, Uwharrie , WBGVA, Snowshoe Vermomt State Park, and then some.    My comments are very specific as it it relates to the WWC.  Maintain the trails, and personally I believe they need one more loop that is more like LNSP.  A huge part of their daily fee MTB business needs another Easy/FLOW track. A good fit for them would be a Monbo loop.  Rode it twice yesterday.  Smiley  21.2 MPH for a brief stint on lap 2....so fun for an old guy like me!  That's a trail the whole family can enjoy, and the WWC is a family destination.

My view is always the same: If you ride a full suspension 29er then the only thing that can possibly make riding in this area challenging is to park junk cars all along the trail.

Saw it on Saturday, thought there was going to be more going on.  Two of those places needed some TLC, ol root wall is an unfortunate victim, lost its old character but still a decent feature to navigate, at least it wasn't a full on re-route.  This thread is surprisingly civil, I'd like to get back to complaining about parking prices now...

My two cents, which is worth a lot less than the annual parking pass.

1)  Round a bouts driving in are AWESOME!
2)  South Main was definitely neutered BUT it is a blue trail after all.  I have no issues with it.  I ride the Black loops for my fix and it gives me more options when I take the family.
3)  I have no problem paying $50 for parking.  There are tons of amenities at WWC and I don't mind contributing a little for such an awesome trail.
4)  There are many more things going on at Springs to complain about than at the WWC so I'll stick to that.   Smiley
