I know that THTB isn't building this trail but was wondering if anyone had any updates on progress and expected finish? I heard they are moving dirt.

You are correct that they are moving dirt and trail building is in progress.  I know he had to take a short break to finish an important project in Wilksboro but he is back at it and it should be good.

If you are interested in previewing something that will probably be very similar to Mazzepa park trails go check this new one out:

having ridden cub creek, i would agree that it can provide an idea of what Mazeppa will be like. though, i think Mazeppa will be more intermediate than cub creek.

Found this proposed trail layout on the town's website. Can't wait for this one to completed! The only negative I can see will be parking. Having played softball at this park, it gets really busy in the summer/fall.

Do we have any update on these trails.  I have been waiting for these to open I know it was suppose to be started late 2016.  I keep going to soccer practice 3 time a week there patiently waiting for some movement.  I know that the project is being built by someone other than the club and it is all through the Mooresville rec but the club is going to take ownership after it is built.. DOC any new updated to the club.

Trail is a little more then halfway done.  The pace of construction has picked up so that it will be done sooner then later.  Some bridges will need to be built but paper work will need to be ironed out before that can happen.  This stuff takes time but things are happening.

Swee tthanks for the update.  I have been at mazeppa four nights a week since August at soccer practice and would have never know they had started.  I have been waiting on it to open so I don’t have to watch so much soccer.  I hope they get it done before next soccer season.

There is trail back there, brah.  Just no bridges.  Effectively three out and backs.  Go put tires on it and keep the kudzu down...

Any idea where they start? I'm only a few miles away and will gladly put tires on it

They start off the gravel road behind the go kart track.  I assume they’ll eventually connect over to the park somehow, but for now, this is how I have been riding it.  Park at the upper soccer field lot, ride over the dirt path to the go kart track.  You’ll have to go up the big grass hill toward Mazeppa Rd, then just ride toward the go kart track, there is only one way over.  You’ll go over a big dirt mound and then hit a gravel road right at the go kart track fence.  Bang a left on the gravel road, go about 200 yards, and you’ll see them, they are obvious now.  If you ask the folks at GoPro, they might be cool with you parking there, but I have been parking at Mazeppa.

I have been riding them for a while, they are going to be really good when they’re done.  The one in the back is getting overrun by kudzu already.  And I am pretty sure there aren’t many people on them, every time I go, there are tons of webs.

My buddy and I rode the trails today. Ran into two other groups. Real fun trails, tons of berms and good rhythm sections. Total mileage was 6 miles, so I suspect itll be closer to 9-10 when its all said and done for the full loop.

Word on the street is the THTB may have to come up with volunteer labor to build quite a few bridges to get this trail open.  If that is the case I'm messaging everyone that has been riding out there to come help! Cheesy

I'm busy enough as it is managing other trail projects so we will need the Mooresville community to step up when the time comes, and I feel like that time may be coming soon...  I'll pass along any word when I get it.

I'm in! I was out there riding today. Also needs some cleanup too

The bridges would be a huge help, though there are still sections of trail that need to be made to finish. But getting bridges built is probably the hold up because of no access to those sections

Let me know when( if) the club needs help.  I will help get this finished.  I am out there four nights a week for my daughters soccer practice and would love to help to get it complete.  I have a tractor and auger for putting a in post if we need it and can use it.
