The 6 Hours of Warrior Creek did not sell out in minutes this year.  There are still spots AND the price goes up TOMORROW.

Get in while you can.

32/18 and done.

Thought about seeing if you wanted to do a duo SS but I'm too cheap. That's a lot of coin for 3 hrs of racing.

Having done the 6hrs of Warrior Creek on a single speed, I think you should rethink your gearing choice.

I run 32/18 for duo, but gear down to 19 for solo or wet conditions.

I like 32x19 but honestly you are strong enough to pull off the 18.  I turned my fastest lap ever geared or single speed on a 19.

But you need more than one lap doe

Rather have 6 slower laps than the one fastest instead of 5 fast laps

I FORGOT I HATE LAP RACES

Ive done that race a few times on the SS. I prefer the 19 over an 18. Lots of sneaky climbing where the 19 helps, especially on the later laps. Not a lot of flat where the 18 would give you an advantage.

My unsolicited opinion.

I dont think theres a rule against it, but I'm not 100% sure

There was a thread on it somewhere on here a few years back. The was some debate as to the "ethics" of it. Its still a single speed, you're still the engine. I have a buddy who switched the cog from a 19 to a 20 during the race. Had a spare wheel set up in case he wanted to do it so it was a fast change.

I've brought extra cogs incase I wanted to change during the race but never decide to do it.  There is no reason you can't change your bike single speed to single speed.  The transponder in on the number plate so when you move it over it should go with it.

I've seen some races where they say you can not switch bikes but I don't know about warrior creek. But why bother, with the layout you can run just as fast on a 32 19 as you can a 18, you may get a little better start on the pavement but you are gonna pay for it on the trail. Heck if you are a spinner I think you could get away with a 20 up there.

I've always been swallowed up on the road on the single at the start of the race.

This is why I stopped racing it.

I have good stamina and can pedal for a while, but I am not fast enough to get through the guys on geared bikes trying to get to the single track. I also know that if I tried to get through them, I'd blow up and it would hurt me later. I ended up towards the back of the group and then had to pick my way through people in the resulting conga line that is the first lap. Either way, lots of lost energy.

After lap one, it thins out so much its like a different race. I would get 4 laps overall  - I just hated that first lap so much it kind of ruined it for me.

Not sure that is true for this event.  The first lap for the pack is literally like bumper to bumper traffic.  It's kinda miserable.  On a single its especially bad because you cannot use your momentum and you waste a lot of energy.

No doubt, that first lap will wear you out.  It sucks to be on the singletrack with the slow people on geared bikes and can pass because there are 20 of them.

I think that might be a good plan.  It's really miserable.  Like miserable to the point where you're constantly trying to avoid running into the wheel ahead of you and for those punchy rollers that can wear you out.

Except for those on the very front?  There are enough solid road riders - but far less skilled on the trail - that the first lap is just like dealing with a lane closure on the Interstate.  That's unless you line up at the very front...and of course do that very same Interstate experience to the better trail riders behind you!  it is truly one or the other, and I've done both.

Saw on the 6WC Facebook page that because of weather, the race might get bumped to Sunday or maybe the fall.

If you aren't on their FB site, and youre racing, go check it out.  (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links);

They said they will know by Thursday.

Solo SS went five laps?

No results up yet, so I'm just gleaning all the info I can that's out there.

Sorry i lost count!

3rd in SS would have been 5th in open?! SS isn’t dead yet (or everyone stayed home)

You finished in 5:14... which means you coulda went out for a fifth lap.

That said, I was out on that last lap for about an hour and eight minutes after you finished.  If you think the course was bad on your last lap...

Lemme tell you some stories.

i did a little circle before the finish to pretend i wouldn't make it, but man, that fifth lap looked miserable.

i wonder what the payout difference between 3rd and 2nd was...
