This event aims to raise the necessary funds to complete substantial trail rehabilitation and strategic re-routes on the Hawk, Hicks Creek, and Norwood Loops, to ensure these trails provide thousands more riders with smiles ear to ear. Register for the ride, then share our fundraiser with your friends. We have prizes for the riders (and teams) who raise the most money in our fund riaser!!!!!!

Fundraising goal for this event: $10,000

Funds raised through this event will serve as matching funds for a 2018 REI grant that the Trailblazers are applying for to benefit the trails at Lake Norman State Park. Our goal is that the funds raised through this event combined with the funds from the 2018 REI grant will meet or exceed $20,000.  Any remaining funds will be used to support other trail development projects within THTB trail systems.

Schedule

Date: March 24th, 2018 Rain date: March 25th, 2018

THS IS NOT A RACE! Individual and Duo participants will ride as many miles as they can (or choose to) between the hours of 9am and 4pm. All riders will begin at 9am and riders must be back at the parking lot by 4pm. You may take as many breaks during the course of the day as you would like. There is no course, riders may start on any trail and they may ride as many different loop configurations as they choose. If you would like to lap Monbo all day, do it!  REI is setting up a riders lounge with snacks, and mechanics on site so riders can relax between logging some miles.  We will also have a vendor village setup beside the lounge featuring local business and other fundraiser supporters.

We are asking that each participant use the fundraising page to help raise at least $50 toward the cause! You can ask family and friends to donate to you specifically, or create a team and join up with others to raise money.

On-site registration will be available but on-line registration is strongly encouraged.

Reporting miles ridden

Each participant is responsible for tracking the number of miles they ride throughout the day. There will be superlatives and small prizes given for the recognized classes listed in this document. Again, this is not a race, and determining exactly who rode the most miles is secondary to having fun and raising money. All forms of tracking your ride will be accepted including:

· Smart phone apps (Strava, Map my ride, etc.)

· GPS watches

· Bike mounted GPS

· Hand tracking by naming loops ridden and number of times

o We will have a standard mileage to use for those who cannot track their mileage electronically

We will be raffling off an REI co-op 27.5 hardtail mtb along with other items from event sponsors.

Sponsorship opportunities for this fundraiser are available!  A handful of volunteers will be needed as well.  Email [email protected] with inquires.

Lets ride some bikes and raise some money for trails!
