Upcoming additions to Sherman Branch

We have some exciting things planned for Sherman this spring and summer.  For starters, I’ve been working with a local life scout who is going to build a changing room for his Eagle Scout project.  No more changing in the porta-Jon!  We’re in the early stages of that project but hopefully he can get through the planning and permitting in the next few weeks and get it built before summer starts.

Also, we’re going to build a TTF that will replace the old log ride which eroded long ago.  For those not familiar with that location it’s on the main trail right at the shortcut.  This feature will require a fair bit of help so look for upcoming work days to be posted.  Big shout out to Mark Sullivan for hauling a bunch of materials to the site for us!

I’ll also post work days to help make some minor repairs to existing wood bridges and such that need a little love and at some point make repairs to most all the berms.  Most will require the mini excavator so repairing those will follow availability of that.

Overall the trail is in really good shape but the boring work of drain clearing and debris removal is something that’s always good to do and short workdays for those will be part of the rotation as well.  Thanks to all those who have helped and continue to help at Sherman and other trails!

Given the numerous times I’ve seen people have to change in the ports-jon at Sherman this will be a worthwhile addition which will benefit riders and a young man who wants to do a good deed.  Just sayin’

I'll use the heck out of it personally. I've given up using the porta jon cause it was just making me sad and now use my car which makes me slightly less sad....so a nice place to change will be very welcome indeed. Smiley

I use the one at Rocky River from time to time.  It is nice not to have to go bare butt.

I go to WWC all the time and didn't know about this.  I usually change at work.

While we may love to rock our "kits" out on the trail, I usually like to be a little more nondescript when visiting a watering hole/eating establishment for the apres-ride reward.   Grin  The changing station will be nice and very welcome, especially when we want to stop at Jake's for an after-ride meal.  I've used the changing rooms at the WWC a few times, when meeting up with others for a brew and food after rides too.  My Mrs likes it even more when I opt for the showers to hose off the sweat and trail dust.   Cheesy

Btw, thanks David for pulling this work together!  I appreciate all that you and Jerry do out there and look forward to coming out to lend a hand again his year.  Really looking forward to the new feature and patching up the few rough spots.

I use them.

And kinda glad you're not into stalking the changing area   Lips Sealed

Butt just cause you don't see anyone use them, doesn't mean they don't get used.  Roll Eyes

Great service project for that Scout. TIA

I noticed the touch up work on Roller coaster loop earlier this week and this afternoon there was a gentlemen with a hoe on Lake loop.  He looked to have cleaned dozens of drains over that whole loop.  Sherman is so much fun these days. Thanks a ton for the efforts by y'all.  Please do post up when your looking help on your to do list or PM me and count me in.

Update..... We have started work on the new trail feature and working on it slowly but surely.  We are still waiting on some additional poles to be delivered which we are using for the supports.  Since we still need those I haven't put a full court press on finishing the rest of it.  Also, our scout is well in to the process of getting the changing room built.  He currently has the design and has received approval from his scout council.  He should be getting his plans submitted to the county and permits very soon.  We are going to locate the structure directly behind the porta-jons so that they are out of the gas company's right of way.  With any luck he can start construction sometime next month.

What was the ho doing when the guy was cleaning out drains?  Riding her bike?  Yes.  I knowingly dropped "e" from hoe, because I think the word play is funny.

Starting to actually look like something.  Another 1 or 2 work days and this thing will be rideable.
