Do Rotors Ever Wear Out?

I have a rear rotor thats a few years old.  I put new pads on the brakes and bled them, still have problems locking up the rear wheel. I would assume yes but just want someone else's opinion.

Yes.

But a tiny bit of contamination (oil, grease, shamy butter) will destroy braking performance. Either need to clean them really well with brake cleaner or just get new rotors.

Yeah, this, a new rotor and pads sounds in order to fix contamination.  Just happened to me a couple months ago

Did you properly bed in the pads when you installed them?

If not they wont stop for &^&^.

One thing to note... and I dont recommend this unless you have metallic pads... but you can bake the pads and rotors in the oven at really high temps to burn off any contamination. I would open all the windows and run a fan though...

Dont clean them with auto brake cleaner. That stuff has small amounts of oil in it and can actually make things worse.

Denatured or rubbing alcohol on the rotors should remove anything on their and either bake or replace the pads...

Agree with rubbing alcohol for the rotor.  Take it off the wheel. Rub it down, do it again, do it again, then soak it in alcohol, then rub it down again.  Get new pads and give that a try.

New rotor didn't do anything, so by process of elimination it was the pads.
Since those are new this year it had to be contamination.

I put them in the toaster over on high for 30 minutes and they got their bite back.

Plus the sweet smell of egg rolls when I lock it up.
