Yes, we're finally doing this thing!
June 9, 10 am, basketball/tennis court parking lot.
Bring gloves and water.

This is a site prep workday to get ready for the build starting the first week of July. We'll be working with Elevated Trail Design, installing silt fencing and removing brush.
We'll have the grill going too.

Hope to see a whole bunch of you out there! This is a BIG project and I think the wait is going to be worth it.

Big thanks to everybody that came out in the heat to kick off the Beatty pump track build! We had a good-sized group and knocked out everything that needed to be done. The dirt will be delivered the last week of June, then it’s go time.

I've looked but I can't seem to find any rendering or overview of what this trail or track will look like.  It might help build some volunteer interest if you post some kind of rendering of what this thing will look like. You've secured the contractor so I'd guess there is some kind of print on what they have in mind.  Maybe this was shared and I somehow missed it?

Also keep us posted on your sense when the next organized work date would be on this so we can get it on our schedule.

No rendering, we're not that fancy. From the original ETD concept, we are building the pump track loop and return trail (red and purple above, not to scale). Green is an intermediate jump line, blue is an expert line, but those are not funded yet. For those unfamiliar with pump tracks, check out the video below. Then stretch the trail out to 1000 feet long, 4-6 feet wide, built by the same guys that do Beech Mountain.

Dirt will now start arriving this Friday, ETD will start building next Wednesday. Build is estimated to take about 2 weeks. There will be two more opportunities for volunteers to help with the pump track, including a big workday/grand opening/hot dog grill-apalooza. But after completion of the pump track, we will be adding a skills area. Think something along the lines of Dupont's kids trail.

This thing is going to be big. It's going to wear you and your kids the hell out, and it's gonna be badass. Get hype.

Sweet.  That is what I was looking for.  So red and purple lines equal about 1000 linear feet?

Also appears that this is not going to be mass cleared and remain in the woods?  Nice to have some shade this time of year.  Many of the pumps I've seen are out in the wide open sun to get baked on.

Yes, estimated 1,000 linear ft. Only clearing enough corridor for the trail. You can see in the pic above what may have been a road many years ago, it was already largely clear of trees. Tree cover provides shade, and protection for the trail.
