That area west of Winston-Salem is likely the number one hot-spot for cycling in North Carolina.  It is not uncommon to have several groups riding each weekday evening, large groups of 20 to even 60 or so, riding at the same time.  As part of this bunch just given the numbers and the growing residential community (it is an attractive place to live) I am actually surprised at how hit-free we have been over the last few years.  As you might expect with an upscale trend of development, drivers do like to get on down the road efficiently.  Many in the area actually enjoy the cycling community there but it is going to get interesting as that area grows.

Why are the cyclists having to do all the detective work? The police couldn't have found the mirror?

Absolutely agree...this is not an accident investigation, it's a crime investigation. But in general the public views a biker being killed or injured the same way they do when a cat gets run over. (That's why I only ride on dirt)

I heard the rider hit ,is an attorney. Might be interesting to follow this. Like the driver that got sentenced to life in Kalamazoo, one of the survivors is the county commissioner of roads, or something like that. So now these crazy drivers are starting to hit folks who know the rules of the road and laws

And all it took was the 3rd comment for someone to blame the cyclist and say, "They deserved what they had coming..."  Ugh.  I love our society...  Everyone wants to be a hard a** till they're the victim.
