I bought a paddleboard. The older I get, the less I enjoy riding in 100 degree weather. That said, we've had a mild summer this year.

As long as I stop and catch my breath it's OK. Just keep sucking down the water and try to stay out of the stroke zone.
Have a battery powered fan that takes D cells. Set it in front of me when I get back to the vehicle and cool down. Works well on the dead calm days. I think it was $15 bucks at Wally World.

Weight/heat are not a happy couple and the average mountain biker has clearly gone up the scale in recent years.  Ha!

I'm moving to Matthews in about a month and am excited to try some of your beautiful MTB trails.  It's way hotter in your area than I'm used to in the summer, what do you do the beat the heat and still MTB in the hot months?

I've found that wearing a tank top (or sleeveless) shirt makes a world of difference in cooling my body down.

I either ride super early on weekends or go night riding during the week.
