ISO: 26" bike for kid

My 12.5 year old appears to be on the upper end of fitting his 24" wheeled bike.

So, I'm kicking the tires to see what's out there in the form of a gently used 26" with a sus fork and disc brakes. I suspect he'd probably fit a 15" frame or so as he's pretty average height for his age.

We're not looking for anything too fancy since this will certainly be a bike that he'll have only for a few years while he continues to grow, but decent components and good condition are preferable.

TIA

You should try the back room at Trips for Kids they have a ton of frames and then you can scrounge a fork out of the bin and so forth down the line
Then.....stop at Walmart on the way home and pick out some wacky spray paint.
Could be a fun Father and Son/Daughter summer project

Agreed.  I know you asked a pretty straight forward question but you should abandon your original thought and do this instead.

Also you should design your own graphics for the bike and maybe take a blacksmith class so you can design and forge your own head badge.  And you should drive to California and buy a rare bottle of beer and use the bottle cap on top of the stem for another cool personal touch.

Or, you can just keep watching the thread and see if anyone has a 26" bike for your kid.  I guess that could work too.

Uhhhhh....not really sure what this means.

But with that said , some of the coolest bikes posted on this site over the years have been 26er project bikes that Dads have created with their kids. Including a nice pink one that graced the pages of Dirt Rag.

Mark-for what it’s worth I donated a pretty nice Specialized to TFK. Had some good upgrades Hayes,Chris King, Manitou Black
May be a bit large but perhaps after theyre done getting it ready for use you Guys can swing by and check it out

I have 1 of these hanging on a hook in the garage:

Its a large though, not a medium.
It also has a set of I9's on it that would have to come off if you wanted it cheap.
