Shoe question

Looking for suggestions  I am looking for a mid ankle clip in shoe, but I don't know that anyone makes one. I was looking online and came up with zilch.

A long time ago, I tore all the ligaments in my right ankle. I was able to work around it for a long time, but its giving me fits lately.

Not trying to be a smart-alec but, have you thought about going to flats? With a quality pedal and shoe combo they are super grippy and, if you develop good form, probably comparable to clipless. Might save your ankles in the long run...

Best bet is probably just to get a good ankle brace which will give more support than a high shoe anyway. I've done it before with sprained ankles and had good luck. More than anything it is a good reminder not to do something stupid.

Understand your problem as my ankles are shot too. Think the brace is going to be your ultimate solution. I looked at the Shock Dr stuff from Troy Lee but found a very similar product at Dicks Sporting goods for much less money. My only caution is to be careful not to over buy on protection as I found some of the more rigid versions made it very difficult to drop my heel when descending through the rough stuff.

As for shoes check out the Shimano ME7 shoe - currently on sale at REI for $90 or the Magic cross ride shoe on sale at Jenson for around $40.
