Eleven year old disc breaks... Add more Fluid?

Hey peeps,

My Hayes Solo hydraulic disc breaks are eleven years old on my 2007 Giant.  I have changed the pads several times and adjusted along the way.  The disc rotors have never been replaced.  The rear caliper is now bottomed out, so I can move the pads inward further, and the current pads are not very old.  The lever still seems to have a lot of travel, and I fear that further wear is to leave me with too little stopping power eventually.  Is adding fluid the solution?

Thanks,
-Clay

More than likely you've either got air in the lines or fluid contamination.  I would recommend bleeding the lines and seeing if that helps.  That's a long time for original fluid if you've never had it done.

Check the thickness of your discs.

Shimanoes need to replaced at 1.5mm, not sure about Hayes.
