Until trails are built similar to these in the video nothings going to change in Charlotte and you are  just going to keep working on the same old .... same old... same old......

I'm glad someone is sayin!

Part of the reason we are doing the survey is we recognize that our region needs actual "bike park" style riding areas like the ones in Bentonville and the ones that are popping up all over our region (Tannery's knob in Johnson City, Rocky knob in Boone, etc).

If you want to see bike parks with jumps and play areas specifically for bikes please take the survey and let us know.  At some point we will share the results with our land manager partners (Mecklenburg County and other municipalities) to aid in getting funding to develop the progressive biking infrastructure seen at premier public bike parks that we currently lack.

Done.  Thanks, Will!  Exciting to hear, and I really appreciate the leadership of you and the Trailblazers on this point.

Survey complete.  And I must say kudos to the trailblazers, WWC, and Steve at RRT for all you do.

My wife and I have been searching for places in NC or VA to move to when we retire (you know, like 50 years from now) and the amount of cycling opportunities around Charlotte is fantastic.

Keep up the good work!

We have over 300 survey responses! Thanks to everyone that has taken the time.

If you have not taken the survey yet, please weigh in. It takes less than 15 minutes, and the feedback is invaluable as we rework our bylaws and reshape our club to best meet the needs of our mountain bike community.

OK, done.

Some of the new and planned professionally built trail will help us showcase what we have and what the potential for new trail in our community can accomplish. We need to sell it.

As a club, are we moving away from the grass roots hand cut trails in favor of professionally built?

No. We have miles of hand cut singletrack, and we're still building more. The survey is partially about gauging interest in the types of trails Charlotte doesn't currently offer, how much emphasis we should place on those styles, and how best to engage the community to be most effective.

I see it as adapting and incorporating new skills, not forgetting one and solely focusing on another.

Done-and I appreciate it!
Over the years I've faded from giving many man hours to hardly being involved these days but I am amazed at how the club has progressed to be a very legit and well funded organazation.

I went to my first TTB meeting around 1999 at Godfathers Pizza and there was less than 4 figures in the coffers at that time as I recall.  Raising the funds to have a professional company design and construct a pump track impressed the heck out of me.

I prefer natural trails and features.

But mountain bike trail building with a focus on and optimized for riding mountain bikes.

Machine, hand cut or a combination of the two is less important.

Sometimes man made features are necessary (aka bridges or erosion mitigation). But I prefer that they are kept to a minimum, unless one is specifically building a trail to appeal to such riders. And I think such features should have bypasses.

Does this mean you are for or against leaf blowing?  Asking for a friend...

I can't believe we omitted the most obvious survey question.

Cool

I'm not against trail maintenance.

Of which, leaf management is a part.

Your posts gave me a good chuckle since you're comparing a town of 35,000 with a bike park to a city of 859,000 with 210 parks and facilities some of which have existing mountain bike trails, 49 miles of greenways with more on the way, and a nationally recognized outdoor recreation center.  Mecklenburg Parks and Recs has done their job very well of providing facilities for the masses.  Some people just have zero appreciation of what has been made available.  I think the THTB have done an amazing job to bring trails to publicly held lands and they are continuing to build relationships with land managers for more additions.  I do not know where you originated but as a native Charlottean, I invite you to move back if you are so unhappy here.  I am sure everything is better there and they probably miss you.  Charlotte was fine before you arrived and will be so long after you are gone.

Gosh StevenA Im sorry you feel the need to be so passive aggressive ....

All I am suggesting is that  The city is the one that needs to be convinced on building nicer mountain bike trails   If your content with greenway trails then thats fine for you

No need for the  aggression

Just sayin !!
