Any of my fellow bikers dealt with PCL issues. I have a tear in mine and debating on surgery.

Don't know PCL.  Had a ACL and MCL combination tear in college and had surgery to repair.  It rarely give me any problems when riding. 

The first exercise I started doing in rehab after the surgery was the stationary bike if that tells you anything

If its only a partial tear, get into a good PT and start doing some plyometrics. I am at the end of the recovery from my 3rd ACL reconstruction now and I can confidently say you should avoid surgery if there are other options.

Yes indeed.  ACL MCL PCL in one knee at age 17 and ACL in the other at age 30.  Racing motocross is hell on your knees.  Had them all repaired with varying degrees of success, and am doing fine some 20 years later.

Neither knee gives me any trouble while cycling, but neither one is very strong when faced with pivoting movements like you would experience in basketball, etc.

I was told not getting them fixed (my one ACL I did not have fixed for 3 years) would lead to arthritis sooner as opposed to later.

Highly recommend getting a couple opinions from a multiple doctors, vs. chumps like us on a mtb forum.

I have a complete tear and was told it will never grow back together, therefore leaving the femer and tibia to move around to much as it is now unstable. PT can only do so much to support other muscles around the PCL. Haven’t been on a bike since the day I injured it (4 months)

I was just seeing how others felt after any type of knee surgery.

I continued to ride for 4 months after I broke my ACL. Going down stairs got too unpredictable. Had a patella graph and was was good as new. Recovery was painful and long. Broke the ACL in my other knee about 4 years later. Used a cadaver donor on it, Was back to riding in about a month. No where near the discomfort as the first surgery.

Do what you like. Stop hating people for their riding habits and get back to hating them for their skin color, religion, politics, and sexual orientation.

Complete ACL tear, grade 3 MCL tear and lateral and medial meniscus tears all at the same time.  ACL reconstruction with cadaver graft. Doing pretty well 8 years later but meniscus still likes to act up from time to time.

If your using your own grafts, plan on at least 2 months. The graphs removal/ recovery  is the worst part

Spent about 2 months doing rehab before surgery, did surgery Jan 10, 2010 was back on the trail by mid March.  Was on the trainer about 2 weeks after surgery.   

I used the cadaver graft after a lot of research and it's been serving me well so far.  It's not as tight or supportive as if I had done my own graft material and it usually takes longer to revascularize the graft tendon but I didn't want 2 surgery sites to heal.  I used Dana Piasecki from Ortho Carolina Sports Medicine in Charlotte.  One of his main research focus's are allographs and he know's his s&^t!

It took about 18 months for the knee to really feel 90%-95% of before injury.   

Note:  It will probably never feel the same as before but the body is great at adapting.

DO YOUR PHYSICAL THERAPY!!!  It's key to your recovery!
