Hey MTB Folks,
Trail expansion is in the works in 2019 for Salisbury Community Park (SCP). We're anticipating an Eagle Scout-led bridge build project will open up new area for 2 to 3 miles of trail near the RR tracks in the northeast corner of the City's park property. Over much of 2018, we've worked through getting approvals from City staff for the bridge and trail. We're introducing the plan to folks at an upcoming meeting:
7pm on Thursday, January 31st
City Tavern, 113 E Fisher St, Salisbury, NC 28144
We'll be planning work days each weekend in February to assist with the bridge build and carving out some sweet new singletrack. I'll try to keep this thread updated with upcoming workdays as they are scheduled, so watch this post, but they'll also be noted with the local meetup group:

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) Despite what the MTB project says, there's currently just over 5 miles of singletrack at SCP when all loops are taken. SCP also has lots of additional off-road riding opportunities for the whole family. A paved greenbelt circles the lake, various gravel roads and running paths are available in addition to a full CX course. Perhaps best of all during this wet period, SCP drains quite well and it's often available for riding when other trails are closed (big shout out to Gene and crew for their maintenance work!).
Hope to see some of y'all at the meeting, at a workday or on the trail soon.
