We have built a long boardwalk (174 Ft) that will eventully bypass the muddy areas on the back loop but we still need to make some trail additions and alterations before it functions as part of the trail as intended.  If you choose to use it now you will want to make a hard left hand turn at the end to put you back on the trail in the correct direction.

Also we built a smaller bridge to replace the cinder blocks that were in the ditch right before the boardwalk.  You can now approach that crossing at very high speed now BUT the bridge has a bit of a kick on the end and you will be in the air if you hit it fast.  Please enjoy and ride responsibly!  If you rather keep your wheels on the ground just slow down and you will gently roll over the bridge.

Nice pictures. I rode there for the first time Friday and it's a fun little neighborhood trail worthy of putting in the rotation for after work.
I noticed the long board walk project and it seems you could loose a little of the overall distance. Do you plan to leave the existing trail outside the inner board walk open for summer time conditions or is there anymore distance on the drawing board for this property?

For the time being you can still use the original line to maximize the mileage but at some point we will be flipping the direction on the section of trail on the opposite side of the bridge and then reconnecting it back to some new trail before bringing it back together.  This will minimize the amount of trial we are cutting.  The end result will be a small loss of distance but a sustainable, responsibly built trail that will be able to remain open longer through out the year.
Their may be opportunities in the future to add a little extra here or there.  When we first approached this project we were really hoping to be able to built at least a 4 mile trail.  We thought we might be able to hit 4.5 miles.  We are currently a little over 5.  I will do my best to keep it that way if I can make it work.
There are also future plans in the Park to build Dog park, Amphitheater, park roads...    Their are constraints we have to work with in including how close we can get to property lines, suitable land, and future park plans.

That's really nice work, Tom and Team. I was thinking about riding there this weekend but the bike never left the garage.

Thanks Tom! Love the look of that new bridge too. That concrete was a bit of a butt pucker every time.

Is there still a standing group ride that leaves from Matthews and pedals to and from the trail?

I led a ride like that a couple times. Was never a regularly scheduled thing though. It was fun, I'd be down for doing it again.

Coming from Matthews was really because there was only 1.5 miles of trail at the time. Plus: proximity to beer  Grin

I bet you could get Temple Mojo to throw discounted pints if there was an organized ride that left out from their property that hit them up on the return.

The Tuesday Amor Artis / Anne Springs Group Ride does that.  Always gets a good response

Great job on the bridge/boardwalks.  I will have to make it out that way soon to check it out. Cheesy

Rode there for the first time today, what a great place.  Lots of flow.  Great work by all involved.

Will keep an eye out for the next trailwork day.

The recent improvements are really awesome - massive thanks to all who pitched in.  Those bridges were no doubt a ton of work.

This trail is a ton of fun.  It reminds me a bit of the Lake James wimba loops..

Rode it first time in a long time two weeks ago. Got to visit with Doug and Scott who were finishing riding when I got there. I was super impressed with all of the new stuff that's been added since the original mile and a half. I had more fun riding that than I've had elsewhere in quite a while. This is a great addition to our system.

The new 3 mile section is a great addition and makes excellent use of the terrain. The climbs aren't steep and still provide a great reward on the downhill side.  The bridge with the lip/kick was well placed and handles a tough dip. The short Enchanted Forest loop might be a handlebar check for the 800mm+ but I liked weaving through the pines. This is a fun trail for any skill level. I haven't calibrated my wheel sensor lately but got just under 5 miles.
