They say “get some tires on Concord city trail”

So at Matt Foreman’s advice, I got out to the new Concord city trail. What a fun flowy rollercoastery masterpiece this thing is going to be! On FB’s C4 and NICA pages he’s got an overhead view of the trail and is . The word is it is about 2 miles and is soft at thr moment but needs “tires on it” to get it packed down and burned in. What a great location and excellent trail design and construction. Hats off to all you gnomes! I parked off 2nd street and it is super convenient.

Awesome sauce....now to get the Brown Mill updated & say indoor bike area, beverages & more, then a short trickle down Brown to the trail head would make for an epic day..

Got 4 laps in on my lunch break. I'd say it's pretty far from flowy at the moment, but your results may vary, and I'm sure it'll get better as more wheels get on it and I get more familiar with it. I will say to bring your climbing legs and make sure your sealant is topped off. I work basically across the street from this, so to say I'm psyched is an understatement.

So to clarify, the trail is rideable for the purposes of burning in the tread to help with the build process, but it is NOT officially open per Concord P&R.  Official opening will come at a later date.  Lots of tweaking and tuning still left to go.

Yeah, the new stuff is pretty choppy and we have a game plan to make it flow a little better.  Better entrances, benching, smoothing, rounding the drops and exits etc.  But it's a trail, in town.

Put the tires to the trail as requested....Indeed awesomeness for CONCORD! Saw signs that gave me flashes of the Poplar Tent days...shot up Budweiser cans, 12 gauge shells, multiple ravines (for future trail upgrades of course), some natural big rocks and few roots. Heck, while up there picked up some local collards from the neighbor off of 2nd Street..."support local right"??? Looking forward to the big vision!

Anyway, kudos to all the efforts put forth Guys & Gals! Would love to help out when I can and can indeed stir the pot for more hands on deck if need be.

Heading to town for work next week. Is the preferred parking for this still Brown St down by the guardrail after the power lines?

Don't want to go irritating any neighbors  Angry

No, go to the end of 2nd Street, a small gravel lot is on left. Entrance/Exit to trail there, look for the red directional arrows last time I was there. (you will see signs of local vegetables for sale painted on a white board at the corner of 2nd & Cabarrus Avenue, take it to the end of.

I blew the leaves and the kids cleared the trees about a week ago, so go ride it.  Post up if anything else is down.  Was walking along blowing with my head down, and out of the corner of my eye I see something and a 6" tree fell not 2" from my head across the trail.

I got out there about 5pm today for a run. Didn't work out to where I could bring the bike this time through

Was good. Real impressed by all the hand cutting out there. I did have to cross one tree down (if I was on trail) that appeared to be burnt?!? Otherwise I hauled an entire garbage bag of junk out with me. Mostly cans and other random trash. Nothing huge, plus I only had one garbage bag in my pack

Might try and hit it again tomorrow mid day for a couple laps

We have been talking working with P&R to coordinate trash logistics  That area has been used by a lot of homeless over the years, and where you see the piles of beer cans, those used to be campsites.  There's more stuff buried under all the leaves in those areas, some of it sharp, so be carefull.  There's also a ton of tires, some near the toilets and a lot down by the pipeline, which breed skeeters, that need to get hauled out. We plan on making piles in easily accessible areas so the city can roll a dumpster to them.  No dates or timeline yet.

Thanks for doing that Captain!  You are awesome.

I ran out there last Friday I think and the downed tree is near the end if starting on Brown, shortly after the big berm at the bottom of that short DH. It's across some flat rocks that you ride across. Hope that's descriptive enough.
