One is just before the 4 mile mark and it's a widowmaker. The other is on the tech loop right at the end, and it's been there for a while.

We could just build some shortcuts around them.  There are plenty of others....

Noooooooooo s*%t about the cheater lines at this sweet trail!  Try riding it at night with a light.  Those shortcuts are tough to pick out and you end up hauling ass too fast into those sweet berms.

On a side note, the night ride experience is great over there.  Sure beats sitting through soccer practice!

who is in for a short cut covering party?  Like serious covering...  I'm going to organize one soon.

@808, what nights do you night ride?  I'm thinking of starting a weekly night ride out there.

Cover the shortcuts and maybe post some No Strava signs...

Just let me know when it is.

FWIW, I did call Parks and Rec, they were very clear that night riding is not kosher at Mazeppa. Apparently night soccer is cool but night biking is not.

Not sure how anybody would know if you parked at the kart track, though.

I am in for a shortcut covering party. It was done before, and pretty well in a few spots and those kom queers spent the time to remove all the cover.

If a guy was to start his ride before dark and ended in the dark is that still against parks and rec suggested riding? Asking for a friend...

Best way to stop short cuts are to dig big holes ( big enough to stovepipe a tire) at the entrances, and leave the dirt piles on back side. Even the walkers dont want to step in holes.

Do what you like. Stop hating people for their riding habits and get back to hating them for their skin color, religion, politics, and sexual orientation.

The cement deer idea is interesting. However, I think you should insert the occaisional cement Big Foot just to spice things up. Never know, a good scare might help Strava times as well.  Smiley

Hey everyone
Sorry I’m a little late to reply here, I’ve been having problems with my sign in.
Nevertheless I am the trail coordinator for Mazzapa trails. So to answer acouple of questions here.
No the gates do not close at Mazzapa.  I haven’t seen them close even before the trail was there.
Yes Night riding has been happening over there. I night ride there twice a week with my boy. Never had any issues.
Yes the GoPro road could be an alternative for parking but I don’t personally see a problem with parking in the parking lot. One the gates never closed, and two We are mountain bikers we don’t hang out in a parking lot until 11 o’clock at night. We ride and then get out of there. Should be a non-issue.
Thanks and enjoy the trail.
