Absurd - closing the forest. Enormous infection risk riding your bike through the woods or taking a walk.

Or maybe they felt it's not worth the risk to their staff to have them continue to be exposed. It's a private organization so they can do what they feel is best for their community.  If they'd shut EVERYTHING down for April and just rip the band aid off we might be able to have a cook out on July 4th, but I as it stands doubt it.

Exposed to what?

I never see any staff.
And if I do, there a long way away or riding around in pick up trucks.
The guard shacks have been closed down for weeks.

I think it's absurd as well..
Right when the weather is getting premo.

But like you say, it's their property, their call.
Wont stop some riders from poaching it.
So who are they really stopping?  Angry

I've been on this planet for 58 years. I've never seen anything like this..
6000 coronavirus deaths in the U.S. total, you'd think it's the end of the world
But over 25,000 flu deaths since Jan. 1st. and nobody batts an eyelash
And New Yorker's are still being allowed to head for the hills and virtually roam around anywhere spreading the virus..
So, they close the trails in my backyard..?  Grin
WTF

Can one run or ride on the streets around your house, and can one do squats and jumping jacks outside on your driveway or front stoop?  That counts as getting outside and exercising right?

The point of all of these measures is to keep people from congregating.  It seems like everyone and their brother started driving to the parks to play recently creating large groups congregation in these things we call parking lots.  Once you are on the trail there is plenty of distance, but good lord I was literally rubbing elbows with folks in the Uwharrie parking lot last weekend and groups of people were meeting up and hugging each other  Shocked

Some states have simply closed parking lots to parks and forest areas (like California) and to me that makes sense.  It stops the group congregation because most folks drive to to parks.  If you can ride or walk to the trails go for it.  I guess NC isn't going that route...

You can still ride the trails at the Whitewater Center. Not sure about the bathrooms. Bring your own toilet paper and supplies.

This is why.  And just wait until we're losing 5000 people per day.

Well, thank you for clearing that up..

Let me know when that happens..
And it certainly isn't happening in the woods of South Carolina..

Hey, BTW.
If it's such a big thing.. You want to school me on why Cuomo resisted a quarantine of NYC?

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

And instead allowed his wealthy liberal donors plenty of time to evacuate and spread the virus in all directions?

It's sad everything, including a virus killing people, has to have political lines and be partisan. You would think as humans we would just want to look out for one another and not kill off a large portion of the population because you haven't seen a bunch of people die yet.

If not many people die then all of a sudden we did too much?
But if too many people die then it was xyz political parties fault?

There is just no winning. Sad really people think that way.

Facts aren't partisan..
Graphs and B.S. future projections based on opinion certainly can be.

Listen, I know there are some people out there who really like this little mini vacation..
And really like the idea of sitting at home and still collecting a paycheck for doing nothing..

Others like the idea of getting rid of Trump at all costs.

But I'm a farmer, when I'm not riding..
I know where your food comes from.
There are things I need to be doing that I can not do under these circumstances..

Ever been really hungry?

the fact your looking at are "not enough people died yet for me to care"

I'm still working and going into peoples home's, not by choice but because I have to, and most stores are still open i'm confused at what you are not able to get.

I didn't say that..

I'm in the cattle business.
I've heard rumors and they're not good if this goes on much longer.
Because right now, almost everything is shut down.

Hey, if we're going to talk about people dying..
Care to guess what's the biggest killer of mankind in history?
You should know this one.

Nope.

The mosquito.
By some estimates half the people that have ever lived were killed by diseases transmitted by this lowly creature.

That's about 50 billion people.

Maybe you should pay more attention to your insect repellent.

Well..
At least now you know why DDT was so popular in the old days..

Government experts used to spray it all over the place like hair spray. Everywhere except Washington.
They said it was vital to our health.
Until it was banned.
You see there were these little technicalities. It ended up in the drinking water, two headed fish, cancer, animal deaths, etc..

In fact, the CDC was originally established to fight malaria and other mosquito born diseases, particularly in the south.

To say I'm a bit wary of what the politicians and the experts on TV with fancy charts tell me, would be a definite understatement.
I'm also old enough to remember Vietnam.
We won that one many times over. That's what the charts and the experts on TV said.. Until we didn't. Smiley

I just heard Roy Cooper was thinking about closing convenience stores and banning beer sales.

To stop the spread of the virus. Smiley

Road Springs today, first time in a year! So good to be back. More people there than I have ever seen. Trails were excellent, only a couple of muddy spots.  Really missed those rollers on the Prairie Loop.
