I feel likes it’s been a few years since having a white squirrel spotting at Sherman. Any recent sightings?

I haven't’ seen it for a couple of years now.  It was pretty cool to see.  Funny you bring that up...my son and I had a picture of it and mentioned the other day.

pretty sure it was eaten by the giant owl I've seen flying around there a couple years ago..

I am holding out hope it had babies and the legend will continue. Otherwise I’m going to Brevard to steal one and start repopulation....

Let’s hope he didn’t expire after playing chicken with a MTB tire. I don’t know what it is about Sherman but the squirrels there just seem to have a death wish. Last week I had one dart across the trail in front of me, leap onto a tree, and then bounce back to run back across the trail to the original side. Had to lock up the brakes and only just missed squishing the little fella. It’s like there’s some kind of rodent rebel without a cause thing going on there.

well - he ain't totally white - but there's a very light gray squirrel (the front half of his body/head anyhow) I saw on the lake loop this morning.  Definitely a different looking kinda guy and one of those nut-bar immature ones we keep seeing going gonzo all around the trails...

In 10 years of riding Sherman, I only ever saw it once - maybe 3 or 4 years back. Oddly enough, I was actively looking for him when I rode there last, about a month ago. Between the snakes, raptors, and tires, it'd be a miracle if they were still around (though I've never actually hit a squirrel on my bike yet - almost hit a freaking deer at Sherman once though).

Let's hope he's still around. I consider him a good omen.

I saw the 2 Tone Guy this morning. He is definitely a unique color, but not pure white.

Do what you like. Stop hating people for their riding habits and get back to hating them for their skin color, religion, politics, and sexual orientation.

He's out there -- saw him this AM on the 2-track before the turn at the lake. Was early enough that no one was out on the trails yet. He's definitely not as white as the ones in Brevard -- they can be downright fluorescent at dusk. He's also pretty big, looks like it's been a good winter ...
