I run the MUT a few times a year. I've ventured off the asphalt onto the trails to check it out. I felt like it was not worn in very well; overgrown; neglected. I wouldn't bother loading up the bike for those trails. True about the limited mileage. They are side trails from the main MUT, which is 3-4 miles long.

I wouldn't drive over 30min.   The topography of (what's left of) this trail is really interesting,  there's the Carrhardt ruins, etc.  You can enter the trail behind the bmx track if you want to stay away from people, skirt behind the L-side bleachers and then straight into the woods.  I usually rode it ccw but it's not directional.    If you want more miles the greenway now runs past the RR trestle all the way to the canoe pullout, but it's paved.   I walked the mtb trails a few months ago and it was in good shape drainage/growth wise.  I haven't kept up with the status of this trail;  I know development took a bite recently and will take more in the future above the sewer line.  We worked on some trail below the r-o-w years ago but I'm not sure if that was added onto.
