My son has taken an interest in mountain biking, and I figure he's suffered nearly enough on his cheap box store bike that it's time for an upgrade.  He's 12, and around 5'4", but I'd like a medium frame since I figure he's due to hit puberty any second now and grow like a weed.  My budget is $300-ish, something entry-level would be perfect.
