Hey Vudu, I cleared a couple trees on Laurel yesterday between the Laurel entrance on Wildlife Rd and the gravel road crossing as you head back toward the visitors center.
Once was about 14" in diameter but I was able to get it with my 10" folding saw.
Sounds like those aren't the one you mentioned here.

As an FYI for everyone, if you see trees down that look like they require a chainsaw please report them (with as accurate a location as you can) to the front desk in the visitors center.  THTB volunteers aren't allowed to run chainsaws in the State Park so the Rangers need to know about the trees to remove them.  Reporting at the front desk cuts out a middle man (me, lol) of having to take a report form online and let the rangers know.  If I don't see the tree in person I will forget to pass the message on to them.

I usually try & grab a ranger to let them know about downed trees, as they are very quick in getting right on them most of the time. Couldn't find one yesterday & was pressed for time as my ride was longer than expected due to conditions Smiley

Yep - sounds like we are talking about different trees. This one is in two pieces with both pieces across the trail. I tried moving'm but wouldn't budge. Hope this helps - From the parking lot it was .7 miles from the beginning of the connector trail, past the fishing bridge, into Laurel from that road to downed tree - you can't miss it.

Thanks gnomies & LNSP rangers!

Cool, thanks Vudu.

If you can't find a Ranger the folks at the front desk can always take a note and give it to them later.  There are only two rangers on staff right now (not counting the superintendent) so they are definitely hard to track down.  They normally have 4 rangers on staff.

YEP 10-4.

Didn't I read in a previous post recently that a couple of "non-rangers" had been granted chainsaw permission @ LNSP? Like I mentioned, I usually try to grab one if I can find them as I've had them stop what they were doing & head down the trail with chainsaw in hand as soon as I told them about a tree down. Just wanted to post up here in the hopes that the info. would get to those individuals or that the message could be relayed to the rangers. Thank you!

FYI, I sent the rangers an email so we will see when it gets cut out.
