Anyone know the trail conditions in Black mtn?  Thinking of riding some version of ORAMM/Jerdon this weekend.  Thinking it may not have been hit as hard by weather as the rest of the Pisgah area.

Curtis Creek was good last weekend. Forest road 427 was gated but rideable from the Black mountain campground back up to the Parkway. Newberry creek was a mess with tree's and debris on the upper single track (hiking) section.

The new portion of middle black mtn is done and in great shape.  Lower black is unchanged.  Upper black is closed/under construction.

The new Black is now rideable all the way from Turkey Pen down to 276.  The part from Buckhorn Gap over to Black Mtn peak still sucks going north to south… but it’s worth it.  The new trail is ripping fast and fun.  It doesn’t have the old Black chunky gnar… but it will get there in a few years.  Tons of sweet rock work between Turkey Pen and Pressley Gap.

No more hike a bike from Pressley up to Hickory Knob.  The new trail wanders around to a switchback and is all easily rideable from Pressley up to the top.

The new trail feels a lot like lower black did, when it got redone… and now lower black is the new middle black.  I hadn’t been out there for a few months, until Saturday, and I can’t believe how chunky lower black is now.

FWIW: The OP was asking about trails near the town of Black Mountain, not the Black Mountain trail.
