New to the area. Rode around the greenway and double-track at Boyce Park the other day. Saw some singletrack but thought I had read somewhere that we can't ride those. Can't seem to find a definitive answer - can anyone advise? TIA

They're rogue trails, built without any permission/approval, but you're not going to get in trouble for riding them.

There are 5 sections of singletrack @ Boyce and another off McAlpine @ Irvin (Staircase) - all built and maintained by 'one' old rogue.  Linking them all together along with the greenway is a fun @20 mile ride. (yes 20 - of which 5 is singletrack) SUPER fun on a cross or gravel rig.
There are short cut lines that local kids continue to slash - that create erosion problems. But the core lines have been there for almost 20 years - hold up extremely well (the rogue has been building trails for 40 years...knows his stuff)
As for 'the preferred route'....no such thing; unmarked. Exploration and finding your own way - is the way of the 'rogue'.

Thanks for that - seems like you know a lot about these trails... and the little bit that I rode one day (a lot of dog walkers so I went back out to the gravel), seem extremely well built so I guess you know what you're doing!

Not sure what this is though: McAlpine @ Irvin (Staircase). Can you elaborate?

TIA

The staircase is the entrance to McAlpine  from Crown Pointe Business Park near the Lake and Cross Country trail. If you're on the main trail heading North toward the lake area, bear right at the gravel fork just before the creek crossing.  The staircase entrance to the park is about 1/3 of a mile down that trail.  The Rouge single track is a the bottom of the staircase.  Not as much topo as the Boyce end stuff but it's trail.

Thanks for that. May be headed over there today so will try to check it out. May have noticed it one other ride - we were trying to find some privacy to pee and ended up on that bit.

There a restroom at the top of main parking lot at  McAlpine as well as at Boyce Park.  Water fountains there too.
