Hey peeps,

Is Tortuga at the whitewater center gone for good?  I have seen tonight that it and also the also-closed section of Thread no longer show on their map.  If not, when might these reopen?  We've not had this trail for quite some time now.

Thanks,
- Clay

Tortuga, Needle, and Thread are no longer on the WWC Trail map and they are shown as a closed trails on Trailforks. Recent water treatment plant expansion has gobbled up some of the land around the WWC. Let's hope it stops there.

Sucks for those that built the trails, but this is the risk that goes with doing work on property you don't own.  Gonna stink when someone runs a bulldozer right down the middle of Airline or any other trail.

That River District development is proposed where Airline is. There are plan pics in the article below...

Sorry to disappoint, but there won't be any buldozers running down the middle of airline because of the River District.  In fact, we've master planned Airline Bike Park to be the focal point of all of the open space within the 1500 acre River District Community.  Take a listen to the 2021 podcast I did on the project:  (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

In fact, Crescent (developer of the River District) paid for the main xc loop (Co-pilot/Auto-Pilot) to be built.  That was not a small price tag for that high quality single track!  A smaller donation they made paid for the machine rental to build Spruce Goose (labor donated by Community Trail Design).

THTB has learned a thing or two over the years about ensuring new trails aren't in danger of being lost.  Shameless plug to take that USNWC parking pass money and donate it to the THTB instead  Smiley .  We will take those dollars and leverage them with other large donations to bring the HIGH QUALITY mtb experiences the community needs.  Cool

That's awesome about Airline given the amount of work put in!  More than makes up for TTB built and maintained trails like Renni and BYT(*) seeing the bulldozer. Wink
