Stop putting branches down along trails….

I get it, and I understand people are trying to “preserve the trail” but stop laying branches and other debris along the side of trails to stop people from riding the edges….IT’s DANGEROUS…we did a group ride a two riders clipped logs that were laid down to stop riders front choosing a certain line. These were experienced riders who, at speed along a familiar trail, didn’t expect huge logs to be in the way…if you want to “fix” a trail come back and rake it smooth and plant grass…or something…stop laying sticks and whatever else you can find a long the trials…..it doesn’t nothing

Which trail are you talking about?  Any logs, rocks, etc that I’ve seen while riding were there to block shortcuts that pop up from time to time.

Don’t really want to get into where…I know people dedicate their time to the trails and I don’t want to call anyone out specifically. I just very much dislike this method. The branches, logs and rocks are anywhere along the trail where it widens even just a little bit…just seems excessive and dangerous.

With all the recent wind and storms there’s a good chance that someone just moved a downed limb off the trail. Don’t know what to tell you if you’re not willing to be specific.

This guy has been doing for this many years. We call him the "branch putter on the trail guy". Everything has been tried to catch him in the act including trail cameras and internet chat group sting operations. All anybody really knows is that if it has rained hard or been very windy you can almost guarantee he been out on the trail practicing his satanic craft.

I agree that branches-n-such along the edges of the trail can be a nuisance, esp in a race situation where riders often pass or go around each other but riding single file should prevent any contact with debris on either side of the trail in most instances.  The proliferation of short cut-thru trails is equally annoying and should be mitigated but not at the expense of safety for other riders.
