My assumption would be that the new berms and features are not as water resistant as the regular old Sherman trail and we don't want to ruin all of the hard work that was put into these rad new features...

That's okay.  Cru Jones gave us all permission to use the word until the end of days when he did the back flip to win the race.  He probably gave the same at multiple points when doing his paper run.
