I was looking at the pages in the 69-80 range of the presentation, where they talk about definitions of different areas within nature preserves...
First, under the definition of a Nature Preserve on pg 69:
Quote:Nature preserves protect and enhance our air and water quality, contribute to the public understanding of natural systems and native species, provide sites for
educational activities, outdoor recreation, wildlife observation, and nature
appreciation, and preserve unique features and the natural beauty of Mecklenburg
County.
Then, on Pages 73 and 74, in talking about two different "zones" within a nature preserve and what "improvements" were appropriate:
Quote:Non-motorized, multi-use trails (any surface material) and interpretive signage for educational and passive recreational purposes.
I think Sherman was brought up because they see it as acreage in their "land bank" for future park use... Could this be a case of the left hand not talking to the right? (Park planners not communicating with the Nature Preserve division) Maybe...
