MASSIVE February Meeting
01/09/09 at 12:46am
Print Post
OK, I promised MASSIVE, really MASSIVE incentives for new and renewing members to come out to the February meeting at Fuel Pizza, Thursday night, February 5th.

First, For NEW and RENEWAL MEMBERS WHO ARE AT THE MEETING AND HAVE PAID 2009 DUES:
Cool Breeze Cyclery was kind enough to leave us some schwag at the New Year's day ride at Lake Norman. Arleigh had planned to give this away at the ride, but we had so many folks coming and going (or read: the Trailblazer Ride was not organized like a Dirt Diva ride is!) that it didn't happen. Cool Breeze Cyclery wanted us to use the schwag at our next meeting so now everyone (above) will have a shot at winning. Schwag includes a real nice Bontrager crankset, great winter socks and 1/2 dozen or so water bottles.

FOR FIRST TIME EVER MEETING ATTENDEES WHO HAVE PAID 2009 DUES:
I'm buying your first beverage (or second or third, but only one). I'll also buy Sir Dicky a PBR if he shows, just cause I want to.

Jeesh - not MASSIVE enough for you? Man, schwag, free beverages and maybe even Dicky will show. What else we got?

ALL ATTENDEES will also get to watch Tom, Ed and a few other of our illustrious members sweat bullets in public trying to maintain their NO BEER pledge while the rest of us enjoy ourselves. (I don't think it was a sobriety pledge - just a no beer pact, so we'll have to watch them carefully - and don't accept a ride home.)

So come on out. It really is a good way for new members or those who want to check out the club to meet new folks and get to know us.

We'll be talkin' about the new trail we're building this winter (2 new trails and one extension), the new trail opportunities right in front of us that we can start now (2 new trails and 1 new extension) and how we plan to pay for them all. We'll also take our first shot at putting together a comprehensive Wish List of things we want for the club.

So put it on your calendar and come on out (and watch 'em sweat)!

Jim Grover
President, Tarheel Trailblazers

Thanks Cool Breeze Cyclery!

Tom W.,

For future reference, a double post demonstrates the JJW philosophy perfectly.  It's too much...

Wink

Edit:  Ahh, I see you took your own advice and backed up.

BUMP

Just a reminder to get your 2009 membership dues in now, or bring your checkbook to the meeting next Thursday at Fuel Pizza so you will be eligible for the schwag drawing.

As long as Fuel doesn't run out of cookies I'll be okay without the ale. Weird how the sweets have replaced the ale. I have a training plan in place to begin working out the liver in the near future though.

Latest ale dream was about a nice St. Bernardus Triple.

DON'T FORGET, for Thursday's meeting:

FOR FIRST TIME EVER MEETING ATTENDEES WHO HAVE PAID 2009 DUES:
I'm buying your first beverage (or second or third, but only one). I'll also buy Sir Dicky a PBR if he shows, just cause I want to.

Oh yea, I'll buy Benson one too! He deserves one for the posts and I'll bet he comes thirsty (if he comes).

And yes, this does apply to Vinnie and the whole Cacti family when they join. (Received lots 'o questions about that!)

Good Meeting last Thursday. Thanks for everyone coming out. Didn't do my own head count but must have been 60 or more in attendence.

Thanks to Cool Breeze Cyclery for the schwag. Seems everyone stuck around for that.

Thanks to Beth Chuck of Nation Ford Greenway and Jeff Updike from Nation Ford Land Trust for coming and speaking. Sounds like they have a great greenway project going on and that Rock Hill has the opportunity to be a nexus for several trails and greenways. We look forward to working with them.

I believe we received approximately $800 in memberships and donations at the meeting. There were one or two C notes, several $50s and quite a few $40 in the kitty - all of whom will get a new t-shirt when they're ready. Thanks for your support folks - all of our new and renewing members - REALLY!

I only bought about 4-5  beverages on my challenge - including Dickie's PBR. Benson hadn't seen his invite, but I understand he WAS thirsty on Thursday.

Fatboy, I'm sorry I didn't respond to your above message before the meeting. If you are a new Big Ring member, I owe you one!
