Lock overkill?

I had my 2 month old bike stolen off my hitch rack while on a recent trip (cut through cheesy cable lock built into rack).
It's since been replaced and I'd rather not go through that again so I'm thinking about the Kryptonite NY Legend. Yes I know its big and heavy but it'll only be used to lock it to the vehicle, I won't be carrying it on the bike itself.
So, better options, too much lock or good choice?

Not familiar with it, but I'm sure its beefy.  I use a Kryptonite cable and heavy padlock when I need it.  I can secure two bikes to the hitch using one cable and one lock.  I route the cable so that everything is secured to the hitch, including the wheels.  Nothing will stop a thief if they are determined to take it but you can slow 'em down.
