Sometime you open the trail and then it rains. What are they to do when that happens? They could have left it closed because it looked like rain. Then if it didn't rain people would be mad because it should have been open. Different parts of town get different amounts of rain or no rain at all. What ever they do I'm sure it's wrong to someone.

Hey Hippy, I have been trying to keep up with the maint. on the trails at LNSP, but it is more than one old man can handle. We had a meeting last week about doing workdays and possibly giving a section of trail or a loop to a volunteer to do the Maint. I hope we can get some people that ride to help us with this project.
As for the trail closings, this has been the wettest summer ever! The trails were open when they should have been closed. NM got hit hard and the rider wouldn't stay off the trail. I just got the trail rideable again and am continuing to work on a few areas that need firming up. Seems as if it's too much rain or not enough.

Really hopeful LNSP opens today! I plan to ride after work. I love that place.

I work at 77, exit 36 and I don't know how many days I've seen a dark red blob monster on the radar go directly over LNSP and miss me entirely, and it always seems to rear its head around 1600 hrs.

I also work near the trail, and pass State Park road on the way going and coming from work. I pass it about 5:15 Monday - Friday. Last week when the trail was opened, I hit a downpour on Perth road. I took the chance and hit the state park. The rain never got there. So the park does not always get the rain. Don't know what that means, but just thought I would mention it. Also ,I have been on the trail when a downpour hits, and the folidge keeps the bulk of the rain from hitting the ground. So if you were riding on a dry trail, then the trail is slightly lesser then damp. With all the rain we have had this summer, it should be like a umbrella. I sould get the ranger to go out with me before a storm to show just how much rain it doesn't get. BigBikeMike. I sat next to you at that meeting(for som reason I thought you was a big guy). I said I would be willing to participate in maintaining. But I don't want to work on a trail that I can't ride or only ride part of the time. Anyways, let me know your thoughts. Hey Hippy, I'm just a little squirt, but I ride a 40 pound DH bike and that's why they call me Big Bike Mike. I wished you would have introduced yourself. I hope you guys and gals get a chance to ride before the rain comes back!

Rode Laurel and Wildlife (all loops) last night.  A few slop holes, but for the most part it was in great shape.  Thanks for all the effort Mike, please let us all know once you get a work day sorted out and we can help make it better!

When I compiled some of the trail use numbers for lost year, I went back into the Yahoo group emails and figured out how many days the trail had been closed last year.  Almost every month had 12-14 closed days.......and that was when it was drier.  When I compile the (non) user numbers for the past couple of months, I will do the days open as well.  Probably won't be big user numbers for the past couple of months.
